WILD BILL'S CUSTOM CYCLES
DETAILED INSTALLATION
This installation was performed on a 2007 ultra with fairing lowers. The
lowers were modified as detailed below, and the stock shift and brake
levers were retained. The entire installation was performed in 1 hour with
minimal hand tools and a simple bike lift found in most common garages.
TOOLS REQUIRED:                ALAN WRENCH SET - STANDARD

                                             DREMEL TOOL WITH CUTOFF WHEEL

                                             FILE FOR SMOOTHING CUT EDGE

Heres a couple shots of the brake and
shifter sides before mods.....
First thing we do is lift the
bike on our jackstand,
make sure you secure
the bike with a ratchet
strap for safety.
next we remove the
brake side footboard
bolts using a 7/16"
wrench and
appropriate allen
wrench
Then remove the
original footboard
brackets with
appropriate Allen
wrench, retain the
hardware as it will be
reused.
Now install new
brackets
loosely using
the original hardware
and spacers if any.
Notice how we just let it
touch the fairing lower.
Now its time to mark the cut line on the
fairing lower using a dry erase marker.
As you can see it ended up being
about 1 3/4" in from the edge. about
1/4" in front of where the bracket
touched.
Using a dremel tool with a
diamond cutoff wheel we cut
along our marked line. Be
carefull, go slow, and follow your
line as closely as possible... we
did this while lowers were
mounted on the bike.
We used a
file to smooth out the cut edge.
Now reinstall the footboards using the original
hardware, if you left the brackets loose the holes will
line up easier, make sure you cut enough of the
fairing lower for clearance. (trim more if required.)
Then simply tighten everything back up! Brake side is
done!

Tip: The plastic is black so repainting the edge is not
necessary, and the board covers the cut!
Now just repeat the same steps for the shifter side.
Shifter side installed. Nice and clean install
Now take it off the stand and go riding!!!!
